RESULT: 2.4l/100km - I was extremely impressed by the 308HDi. The response from the 1.6L, 90hp diesel engine was phenomenal. The ride is comfortable with a good strong seating position. Inside, the car interior is very well fitted and is of a high spec. You also have a strong sense of safety with this car, ideal for a family. Above all of this, the running costs are almost next to nothing. At €104 to tax and the car running at around 2.4l/100km, you can’t argue that this car is anything but economical. A car which is refined, comfortable, classy and affordable the Peugeot 308HDi is a pleasure to drive and a pleasure to run.

Gosh! I was amazed at how economical the 308 was. Didn’t think I would get what I got. I was expecting to get at most maybe 70 MPG but to get 100MPG was astounding. It’s a lovely car to drive , solid on the road and comfortable to be in. All this in a car that’s only €104 a year to tax! Very important, especially for the times we’re living in at the moment. I’m driving a Peugeot 407 at the moment but am strongly thinking about changing to the 308 in the new year. I would like to thank Neil and all the staff at Trinity Peugeot for the test drive and their time.

RESULT: 2.9l/100km DISTANCE: 51KM I've just taken the 308HDI 90hp for a test drive. To see "How Low I could Go". First impressions were good, plenty of seat adjustments to get a comfortable driving position. Started it up and I was impressed with how quiet it was for a Diesel, no rattles or shakes when it idles. It was very easy to drive, the pedals were nicely weighted, the gear lever had nice short movements between the gears and the steering wheel was nice and chunky. It was nice and nippy too, especially in the lower gears and again no intrusive Diesel rattle when driving briskly. Overall it was quite a nice drive, I did about 50km and found it comfortable for the whole time, I didn't have to fiddle with the seat adjustments once set. If I was to pick one criticism, it would be that 5th gear is a little too high for around town, where you would only need the first four gears, but it does make for quiet relaxed cruising on faster roads.
