Peugeot’s Tips for lowering fuel consumption
- Turn off any electrical load not being used, e.g. rear demister.
- Stick to the speed limit, the faster you drive the more fuel you use.
- Avoid sudden braking or accelerating by looking ahead and anticipating other driver’s actions.
- Change gear early, do not use high engine revs unless you really need to.
- Reduce unnecessary vehicle weight (regularly tidy your boot to remove unnecessary daily luggage)
- Avoid excessive engine idling, turn your engine off if you are stopped for a long period.
- Only fill as much fuel as you require for your journey as this will reduce weight.
- Reduce external drag by keeping windows closed and by removing roof racks when not in use.
- Turn off air conditioning.
- Lift off the accelerator as often as possible and let your vehicle coast while in gear with the clutch released. (This will trigger fuel cut off)
- Have your car serviced annually to ensure optimal performance.
- Regularly check your tyre pressure to ensure they are properly inflated.
